Trivia

  • Was released on the 14th of October in 1938.
  • This episode was the "pilot" episode for the potential spin-off series, in which Betty discovers Swing. 6 out of 12 cartoons were made, however were not released to the public and are considered lost media.[3]
  • Sally Swing was proposed as replacement for Betty Boop. Sally was described as a "modernized", streamlined version of her predecessor. The character however didn't catch on.
  • The Fleischer Studios asked slapstick comedian Martha Raye for her permission to use her mannerism for the character.
  • Sally Swing was revived in the 2016 Dynamite Comic series as Betty's gal pal.
  • Joe Penner's famous catchphrase "Wanna buy a duck?" is referenced in the cartoon.
  • Had this series been successful, Betty would have died. As Betty had been officially announced deceased by Paramount, Betty possibly would have passed away, after having introducing Swing.
  • Toot Braunstein's costume in the adult cartoon series Drawn Together is based on Betty's attire from this very cartoon.
