Popeye Meets the Man Who Hated Laughter is a 1972 American animated one-hour television film by Hal Seeger Productions and King Features that aired as part of The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie. Numerous King Features Syndicate characters appeared in this film. Characters that made appearances were Popeye, Olive Oyl, Swee'Pea, Blondie Boopadoop, Bluto, Henry, Beetle Bailer, Dagwood Bumstead, Otto, Mr. Beasley, Snuffy Smith, Lieutenant Jackson Flip, Jiggs, Hi Flagston, Inspector, Flash Gordon, Phantom, Lothar, Mandrake the Magician, Tim Tyler, Steve Canyon, President of the United States, Professor Morbid Grimsby, News Reporter, Loweezy, Maggie, Lois Flagston, Dot Flagston, Mama, Hans, Little Iodine, Quincy, Dare Arden, Tiger, Fritz, Prince Valiant, The Little King and The Katzenjammer Kids.

According to an ex-staff member who worked for King Features, in an earlier concept, Betty Boop was supposed to feature in this picture, but she didn't because of "multiple lawsuits" over who "owned the rights" to the Betty Boop character.[2]
