Ophelia is a minor character that appears in "The Original Boop-Boop-a-Doop Girl by Helen Kane" comic strip. She is Helen Kane's African-American maid. She accompanies Helen on the Broadway stage, and cleans up after her.
Ophelia wears a black French maid costume in earlier appearances, and in her final appearance a green dress. Her hair is brown and blends in with her skin complexion, and she has her hair tied in a bun. She also wears a ruffled headpiece and has enormous red or pink lips.
Helen is quite rude and mistreats her maid. Helen is content to lie in bed after her Broadway show ends. Helen starts to mope about her house because she has nothing better to do. She observes that Ophelia has not been doing her dusting.
Ophelia replies that she wishes she could have an education, which irritates Helen.
Helen finally has enough of Ophelia and chooses to fire her. Helen asks to insert a job advertisement for an experienced lady's maid who speak French, and who can furnish the best of references.
