Mermaids are minor characters that appear in Barnacle Bill. Bimbo is thrown off a cliff by the Captain, and ends up at the bottom of the sea. The Mermaids sing "Minnie the Mermaid" and dance with Bimbo. Minnie the Mermaid is an actual Fleischer Studios character and appears at the end sequence of the 1930 cartoon and in a 1932 Fleischer artwork alongside Betty Boop and Bimbo.
Quotes
- Mermaids: "O, what a time I had with Minnie the Mermaid! Down at the bottom of the sea! I forgot my troubles, there amongst the bubbles. Down at the city by the buoy!"

- Betty Boop herself would later appear as a Mermaid, in the cartoons Kitty from Kansas City released in 1931 featuring Margie Hines, Time on My Hands released in 1932 featuring Mae Questel, and Betty Boop's Life Guard released in 1934, featuring Bonnie Poe.
- Each of these cartoons features Betty Boop Mermaids.
