Lulú

Lulú is a Mexican parody of Betty Boop, and the longest running parody of Betty Boop. She was created by the original Pascual Boing brand and is the official mascot for the Refresco Lulú[2] beverages.

In Lulú's earlier appearances she looked identical to Betty, and for many years Pascual Boing got away with copyright infringement. Until the 1980s, when Disney sued Pascual Boing for using a mascot "Pascual Duck" in the likeness of Donald Duck.

The real Betty Boop was later licensed worldwide. Lulú's distributors later got into trouble for copyright, and were sent a copyright letter. They had to change Lulú's hairstyle to avoid a lawsuit with the Fleischer Studios and or King Features Syndicate.

According to research, apart from being inspired by Betty Boop, Lulú was also inspired by Little Lulu.

When creating Lulú, Rafael Víctor Jiménez Zamudio who founded Refrescos Pascual, thought Betty Boop's name was Little Lulu, and confused the latter for one another. Both characters share a red color scheme.

The 2012 Lulú commercial Sexy Lulú features a Marilyn Monroe impersonator. In 2015, Lulú appeared in an animated mexicana TV commercial.

Toot Braunstein being renamed Lulú D'Cartón in the MTV Latin American dub is a reference to this Lulú.
