Lou Bolton Claims That Baby Esther Jones Started Boop-Boop-a-Dooping In 1925

Bolton testified that nine years ago in Chicago he taught Baby Esther, a colored child under his management to interpolate "Do-Do-De-Do-Ho-De-Wa-Dade-Da" between the bars of music in popular songs. Miss Kane, who considers herself the original "Boop-Boop-a-Doop" girl, charges Betty Boop is an infringement. Arthur Evans, an employee of Rudy Vallée, said he heard a singer use "Boop-Boop-a-Doop" and variations eight years ago in Omaha. Mrs. Marion Luber, a dancer, said she heard similar effusions in Atlantic City in 1928, prior to the Kane era. Ann Little, a singer and the screen voice of Betty Boop, ran through an entire repertoire of musical gibberish ending with a piping "Ba-Da-Daten-Doop."
