Buzzy Boop makes her debut in the 1938 Fleischer cartoon Buzzy Boop. Buzzy travels to see Betty via train. When Buzzy meets up with Betty at the Moon Train station, Buzzy gets on top of the train and hops up and down, causing Betty to tumble over and need Buzzy's assistance getting back up.
The more feminine Betty calls Buzzy a tomboy and accuses her of ruining Betty's fine, clean clothes. Buzzy immediately starts unpacking when she gets to Betty's house. Her socks become tangled in the drawers while she is putting them away. Then, in order to make them fit into the drawers, Buzzy cuts them into tiny pieces using a pair of scissors.
Buzzy hears some boys playing outside Betty's house while he is unpacking and tries to join in. The boys, however, don't like girls. The boys play by climbing on wires and strolling on fences.
The lads try to use a goat to knock Buzzy over because she always beats them at games, but it backfires. By persuading the goat to become entangled in the washing line, Buzzy rescues the lads. Buzzy and the boys hop on the goat once it has been caught like a merry-go-round. Buzzy is praised by Betty, who also gives everyone donuts.
In Buzzy's second appearance Buzzy Boop at the Concert, Betty takes her to a highbrow concert, there Buzzy doesn't hesitate to express her disdain.

Character Design
Buzzy Boop has her hair braided with ribbons on the end of each braid. She wears a dress similar to Betty's design. Although in the cartoon the dress is altered and resembles Olive Oyl's from the Popeye series. Buzzy is also shown to wear a hat in the beginning of the cartoon, but when she enters Betty's house she takes it off.
