Columbia Pictures on Wednesday announced that Dave Fleischer would take charge of the company's entire cartoon production unit. He will produce the Color Rhapsodies and Phantasies series. Mr. Fleischer, with his brother Max, president of Fleischer Productions, was associated with Paramount for 15 years. He directed the company's first full length color cartoon, "Gulliver's Travels" in 1939 and "Mr. Bug Goes to Town," in 1941, and with his brother supervised the "Superman," Popeye the Sailor," and "Betty Boop" shorts series.
