Betty Boop & Frens[2] is a non-fungible token released on the marketplace August 26, 2022. The NTF is part of Web 3.0 and the Fleischer Studios, Inc., Global Icons, LLC, and XLABEL[3] a Web3 brand consultancy have teamed up to develop the NFT collection.
It is an exclusive #NFT collection focused on bringing together Betty Boop's worldwide fan community. Fleischer Studios announced that they had signed leading brand licensing agency Global Icons[4] as the new worldwide exclusive licensing agent for the Studios' slate of classic cartoon characters including the animated screen star Betty Boop.
The move was official as of January 1, 2021 and the Fleischer Studios looked to expand opportunities for its properties in new ways. "We're excited for the future and all the fantastic ideas in the works with Global Icons," said Mark Fleischer, chairman and chief executive officer, Fleischer Studios. "I'm confident they'll do a superb job representing Betty Boop and our other classic characters. We also look forward to continuing to build our demographics and wonderful relationships in the Betty Boop marketplace in every way possible."
Global Icons will combine its expertise in brand building with its strength and resources around the world to connect Betty with new territories and consumers while creating new opportunities for her core fan base. Last year marked the 90th anniversary celebration for the glamorous international icon.
For the past nine decades, she has sung, sashayed and "Boop-Oop-a-Dooped" past rules and conventions, becoming one of the most popular and successfully licensed characters in entertainment history. With licensees in the United States and around the world that produce quality products, products bear Betty's likeness in virtually every category.
It will feature 8,888 NFTs in this collection and will feature Betty Boop dressed in digital fashion clothes, as seen in her classic cartoons, and designed by MYAMI Studio[5], known for designing virtual high fashion.
The free anniversary NFT is a commemorative digital art collectible to celebrate Betty Boop's debut in Dizzy Dishes released August 9, 1930. The Betty Boop NTF is a collection of digital collectibles featuring Betty Boop.
Betty Boop is said to be a global symbol for independence, supposed mutual respect, and universal acceptance. Betty Boop is considered to be the world's first female animated star in history.
Mark Fleischer, president of Fleischer Studios Inc., and Max Fleischer's grandson said, "We are excited to see Betty Boop enter the metaverse, where a sense of community provides the foundation for the development of the Internet in its next stage." Collaborations will be revealed via Discord.
