Betty Boop on the Road was a 1984 Betty Boop touring act[2] featuring duo Desirée Goyette and her husband of Russian-Jewish ancestry Edgar Noel "Ed" Bogas.
Goyette became the new official voice of Betty Boop in 1984, replacing Mae Questel.[3]
Both Questel and Goyette were introduced to the public by King Features Syndicate at a gala. The same year, she recorded the voice and singing for Betty Boop at the Gold Star Recording Studios for The Romance of Betty Boop by Bill Melendez.
She took on the role of a "Betty Boop Impersonator" for a year, and she appeared at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade,[4] morning and late night TV shows, and sang a barrage songs from the 1920s and 1930s.
A 1985 interview said that Goyette was marketing Betty Boop, and it was a 10-city publicity tour.
Both worked together on the show, Ed Bogas worked on the music and arrangements and Goyette imitated and impersonated Betty Boop and she sang the songs. One of the songs that was frequently sang was "I Wanna Be Loved By You".
Trivia
- Desirée Goyette confirmed this in a 2024 interview,[5] by confirming that she was not the "one-time" voice of Betty Boop, stating she was also Betty Boop in person for a year or two.
