Betty Boop Impersonator is a character impersonator, usually an actor or actress who takes on the role of a fictional character and mimics them. In 1985, King Features Syndicate who owned the rights to Betty Boop, received such good feedback that they hired a dancer to wear a Betty Boop costume across the United States at shopping mall promotions and huge Betty Boop parties.
"When we move around the country, we act as if we're dealing with a real live entertainment star, which she is," said Ted Hannah, director of advertising and public relations for King Features.
"We hire a limousine to take Betty Boop out on the town, to discos," Hannah said. "People regard her as a star. They love it." King Features licensed more than 200 categories of Boop merchandise.
"Although Betty Boop is not a feminist, she could be useful to the movement because she's non-threatening and she shows good qualities," quoted the then director of King Features.
